Primary Mission

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Finance is responsible for ensuring the company’s financial health and strategic strength. As a key business partner within the executive team, he/she oversees financial planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance, in close alignment with the organization’s strategic direction.

The incumbent plays a pivotal role in developing and executing robust financial and operational plans that support accelerated growth of the company’s commercial activities both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Management

• Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives (Canada/USA).

• Oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

• Analyze production costs, OPEX and CAPEX related to metallurgical activities.

• Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.

Compliance and Accounting Standards

• Ensure compliance with IFRS (Canada) and US GAAP (United States).

• Collaborate with the external accounting firm and ensure compliance with tax obligations (corporate tax, GST/HST, IRS, state taxes).

• Manage financial risks, insurance, and legal obligations.

Strategy and Expansion

• Support growth projects including acquisitions, mergers, and strategic partnerships.

• Evaluate the performance of investments and expansion initiatives.

• Oversee financial modeling of metallurgical projects (ROI, IRR, NPV).

• Manage risks related to currency fluctuations (CAD/USD).

Operations and Production

• Work closely with the Vice President, Operations to optimize efficiency and profitability.

• Develop financial dashboards related to manufacturing performance.

• Support the integration of digital transformation initiatives (ERP, advanced analytics, BI, AI).

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead the Finance team (accounting, taxation, treasury, financial control).

• Foster a culture focused on strategic analysis and decision support.

• Ensure the development and retention of financial talent.

• Promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and governance.

External Relations

• Maintain strong relationships with owners, investors, bankers, auditors, and tax authorities.

• Represent the Finance function with strategic stakeholders in Canada and the United States.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).
  • A recognized CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is required in Canada.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance/Management is a strong asset, especially in a multinational context.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Finance Director, Controller, VP Finance).
  • Proven experience in the manufacturing/metallurgical sector or other transformation industries.
  • Expertise in cross-border Canada–U.S. management (taxation, currencies, IFRS and U.S. GAAP compliance), including multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and metallurgical operations (production costs, CAPEX, OPEX, inventories).
  • Expertise in strategic planning, financial modeling, and risk management.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and business intelligence tools.

Additional Details

Location: Hybrid model (on-site presence combined with remote work, depending on organizational needs)
