Training Coordinator (Learning & Development)

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the QHSE Director and in collaboration with Human Resources, the Training Coordinator is responsible for the full management of training activities within the company.
He(she) ensures that all employees are properly trained, competent, and compliant with operational, regulatory, and customer requirements.
The role aims to structure a comprehensive internal training system covering :
- Technical skills (production, welding, painting, assembly)
- IT tools and systems (Prextra, SharePoint, internal software)
- Health and safety (OHS)
- Quality and certifications (ISO, CWB, UL, etc.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Management :
- Plan, organize, and coordinate all internal and external training activities
- Manage the company-wide training schedule
- Identify training needs by department (production, maintenance, IT, HR, etc.)
- Ensure tracking of mandatory and regulatory training
Training System Development :
- Implement a structured training management system (skills matrices, training plans)
- Develop role-based training paths (onboarding, progression, cross-training)
- Create and standardize training materials (procedures, videos, modules, SOPs)
- Ensure continuous updating of training content
Competency Tracking & Compliance :
- Maintain up-to-date training records (training logs)
- Ensure full traceability of employee competencies
- Track certifications (CWB welders, OHS, equipment, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
Technical & Operational Training :
- Collaborate with supervisors to develop job-specific training (welding, painting, assembly, inspection, etc.)
- Support the structuring of on-the-job training (coaching, mentoring)
- Support internal trainers (team leads, technical experts)
- Evaluate training effectiveness on the shop floor
Tools & Digitalization :
- Manage training tools (SharePoint, potential LMS, internal documentation)
- Deploy digital solutions (microlearning, e-learning, videos)
- Ensure accessibility and ease of use of training content
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement :
- Work closely with QHSE, HR, Production, Maintenance, and IT
- Propose initiatives to improve workforce competency and performance
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
PROFILE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Education in HR, Training, Industrial Engineering, Education, or related field
- Experience in training management or workforce development (manufacturing experience is a strong asset)
- Good understanding of industrial environments (production, welding, OHS, quality)
- Strong organizational and structuring skills (rigor and methodology)
- Excellent communication and teaching abilities
- Ability to simplify and explain technical concepts
- Analytical mindset and continuous improvement orientation
- Proficiency with computer tools (Office, SharePoint, ERP, etc.)
- Bilingual (English/French)
Assets :
- Experience with LMS or e-learning systems
- Knowledge of ISO, OHS, and CWB standards
- Experience in developing training content
- Experience in manufacturing environments (metal fabrication / heavy industry)
