ROLE OF THE POSITION

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and proper operation of the company’s equipment and vehicles. They ensure the reliability of machines used in daily operations while complying with safety, quality, and workplace organization standards.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on forklifts, loaders, and flatbed trailers.
  • Carry out annual maintenance or as needed on company vehicles (oil changes, tires, mechanical repairs).
  • Assist technicians during preventive and corrective maintenance operations on heavy equipment.
  • Participate in the installation, assembly, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and propose appropriate technical solutions.
  • Perform tests and inspections to ensure compliance and proper equipment operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow 5S principles and internal procedures.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Perform any other related duties associated with the position.

PROFILE & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Mechanic certification or Red Seal (strong asset).
  • Resourceful, autonomous, and proactive individual (able to anticipate work needs).
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Welding knowledge for fabrication and repair of metal parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written) and English (spoken and written) required.
