ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Controller acts as a strategic financial pillar of the organization. He/she is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, economic performance, and providing analytical support to management decision-making in a growth environment, particularly within a manufacturing setting.

The role combines operational, strategic, and leadership responsibilities, with strong involvement in process structuring, continuous improvement, and growth initiatives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management, Accounting & External Relations

  • Lead all accounting and finance functions, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with established timelines
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Ensure consistency and consolidation of financial statements across the group of companies
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting and tax standards
  • Develop, document, and maintain effective internal controls
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships
  • Collaborate with external accounting firms and ensure compliance with tax obligations
  • Oversee financial risk management, insurance, and legal obligations
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with the owner, financial partners, and external advisors

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting and financial forecasting process in collaboration with operational leaders
  • Produce and support in-depth financial analyses (production costs, margins, variances, profitability)
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards tied to manufacturing performance
  • Support leadership in improving operational efficiency and profitability
  • Contribute to the integration and evolution of financial tools (ERP, analytics, business intelligence)

Growth & Strategic Initiatives

  • Support financial evaluation of investment projects and production capacity expansion
  • Participate in financial analysis for growth initiatives, including acquisitions, mergers, and strategic partnerships
  • Implement financial KPIs aligned with the company’s strategic objectives

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead, develop, and mobilize the accounting and finance team
  • Bring structure and clarity in a context of rapid growth and organizational evolution
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of financial processes

PROFILE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • CPA designation required
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including people leadership
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a growing private company considered a strong asset
  • Strong financial modeling and budgeting skills
  • Bilingualism (English/French) required
  • Strong expertise in financial accounting and management control
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong business acumen
  • High level of comfort with ERP systems and financial analysis tools
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong change management capabilities
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards
  • The candidate must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
